Watchmen

Tonight is the night. When the clock strikes midnight, I will be sitting in a theater surrounded by fans of one of the greatest, if not the greatest graphic novel of all time. The unfilmable film has finally arrived. Let's hope it lives up to the hype. For those of you who don't know anything about Watchmen. I have a few words to help you all.

First of all, shame on you! Just kidding.

The characters in Watchmen are as follows.

The Comedian / Edward Morgan Blake (Jeffrey Dean Morgan): Eddie Blake started off his career on the Minutemen team. He's one of two government sanctioned vigilantes. He is murdered at the beginning of Watchmen and his backstory unfolds as the book progresses.

Nite Owl II / Dan Dreiberg (Patrick Wilson): An avid ornothologist, Dan retired after the Keene Act forced made costumed superheroes illegal. Now he spends his days chatting with Hollis Mason (Nite Owl I) and remembering old times and longing for purpose.

Rorschach (Walter Kovacs) (Jackie Earle Haley): The only active vigilante at work at the present time. Ruthless, psychotic, Rorschach wears an ever-changing black and white that never mixes, just as in his mind there is no gray. Only good and evil.

Silk Spectre II / Laurie Juspeczyk (Malin Akerman): Daughter of Silk Spectre I (Sally Jupiter), Laurie took up the mantle to follow in her mother's footsteps. Haunted by her and her mother's past, Laurie finds answers.

Dr. Manhattan / Jon Osterman (Billy Crudup): The other government sanctioned superhero and the only one with real powers. Dr. Manhattan has near limitless power as he is able to manipulate matter.

This information should be enough to give you an introduction. Go see the movie, then read the graphic novel. There will be a review following my viewing of the movie.
