The Dark Side of the Rainbow

I can now officially say I've gone to the oddest movie going experience of my life. On Friday night I went to the Naro, my new favorite movie theater, for the showing of what they call The Dark Side of Oz. I had heard for years of the concept. So when I heard that it was showing on the big screen, I had to go.

For those of you who don't know to what I am referring, The Dark Side of Oz, or as I call it, The Dark Side of the Rainbow, is a synchronization of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, to the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz. Apparently, the lyrics and tone of the music match up with the film itself. So I decided to test this theory.

After the 3rd lion roar, the music starts and sure enough, the music somehow mysteriously and magically matches up with the film. For a complete list of the matches, go here.

If you ever get the chance to watch it, I say go for it. You might be a little confused after it's all over, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

In any event, Dark Side of the Moon is a great album and worth taking a listen apart from the film.

  1. saw this once, not on the big screen...rather eerie how well it plays together.
