MUTEMATH Concert

A few months ago I put up a blog post about a listening party I attended on a bus. That listening party was for none other than MUTEMATH. I had the privilege to attend their Armistice tour at the NorVa last night. Because I got the VIP package I was able to get in 30 minutes before everyone else and secure a spot on the front row against the railing. Surprisingly, before the show, the VIPs also got free refreshments, which was rather nice, both because the food was great and I had never participated in a VIP experience where food was involved.

The show started off very well. The opening band, As Tall As Lions, explained that their lead singer wasn't feeling very well vocally so they did an instrumental set. It was really good. I told myself that I would definitely check out the band. After they had played for around 45 minutes, MUTEMATH came on.

To say they put on a show is an understatement. Last time I saw them, it was with my good friend D Reeves and they put on the best live show I've ever seen. This time around, they stepped it up a notch. I don't know how that is possible, but they did. To explain what exactly happened would ruin the show for someone and I would say that you can't really understand what it's like unless you experience it for yourself. However, I will say this, if something on the stage isn't broken or damaged after a MUTEMATH show, then you didn't see MUTEMATH. They put on that intense of a show.

One thing that was also cool about the experience was I met fellow fans and got to know a little bit about them. It's always cool to meet people who share the same affection for a certain band as you do. It's been amazing to me how so many different people can like the same music and all of them have a different opinion about it. It speaks to how God in his infinite wisdom created us each with our own unique perspectives on life, art, and beauty.

All in all, a wonderful experience that I would do again in a heartbeat.
